Nestle Prepared Foods has today (22 October) announced a  plan to decrease the sodium in its products by a further 10% on the reductions made earlier this decade.

The initiative will run until 2015 and will include the Stouffer’s, Lean Cuisine, Buitoni, Hot Pockets and Lean Pockets brands, which will undergo “gradual, but steady recipe changes to bring down sodium levels without impacting taste,” the company said.

“Adjusting our sodium levels is part of our broader effort to create delicious and nutritious options that contribute to healthier lifestyles,” said Nestle USA chairman and chief executive Brand Alford.
