US whole foods producer NutraCea today (6 July) issued a brief statement announcing it has completed the second expansion at a site in Montana.

The company was giving an update on its investment at the value-added rice bran processing facility in Dillon, Montana.

COO Leo Gingras said the expansion would take the plant’s annual capacity to produce value-added fractions derived from stabilized rice bran from 1,800 to 2,700 tonnes.

“This additional capacity is required to meet the growing demand for these products,” Gingras added.

The company has been quick to insist that demand for its products has remained robust. In May, NutraCea reported a 47% slump in first-quarter sales but said the shortfall was due to three contracts not falling into the reporting period.
