According to officials at the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, the salmonella stpaul outbreak that has sickened 1,442 people and hospitalised 286 people appears to be over.

“The number of people sickened by this particular strain of salmonella has slowed and appears to have stopped. The FDA has lifted its advice to avoid Mexican peppers. The outbreak is over,” a spokesperson for CDC told just-food.

Jalapeno and serrano peppers from Mexico appear to have been the source of the outbreak, however, CDC has refused to rule-out tomatoes as a transmitter of the pathogen.
