New York-based Sunrise Bakery has been bought by Gatehouse Holdings, the bakery division of private equity firm Gatehouse Ventures.
Gatehouse Holdings, which currently owns D’Ambrosio Bakery of Philadelphia, which includes Amalfitano’s Italian Bakery, Delaware and The Total Bakery Source, said today (22 October) that the expansion would offer a further depth of product offering and an expansion across the mid-Atlantic region.
Frank LaFerlita, president of Sunrise Bakery, said: “We have joined the operational expertise of Sunrise with the deep financial experience of Gatehouse. Together, we can achieve the economic efficiencies and distribution power to offer our products to a new customer base beyond our current reach.”
The expanded Gatehouse Bakery division will significantly strengthen Gatehouse Ventures’ position in the baked goods distribution industry by adding two bakery depots, located in New York metro and Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, to its current depot locations in Philadelphia and New Castle, Delaware.
“The combination of a greater depth of product, increased manufacturing capability and a significantly larger geographic reach positions us as the vendor of choice for a very broad customer base.
