The world’s largest retailer has said that it will focus on carrying more organic products in the hopes of attracting new customers.

Although Wal-Mart has said that it does not want to emulate health food outlets, it hopes to become the mass-market provider of organic food and will double its range of organic foods in coming weeks, Dow Jones has reported.

The move is being seen as a bold one given the social demographic that Wal-Mart appeals to, and one that may signal an attempt by the retailer to appeal to a broader consumer base.
