Weis Markets chief Dave Hepfinger has left the regional US retailer after four years in the job.

The company, which has 165 stores in five states in the Mid Atlantic region of the US, said yesterday (23 September) Hepfinger had stepped down “to pursue other interests”.

Vice chairman Jonathan Weis will take the CEO job on an interim basis. Kurt Schertle, executive vice president for sales and merchandising, will take on extra responsibilities, overseeing store operations and its operations support team.

Hepfinger joined Weis Markets in 2008 from Price Chopper as the company’s president and COO. A year later, he became CEO.
