New studies released by the American Cancer Research Association point to broccoli sprouts and garlic among other foods as powerful cancer fighters.
One Japanese study found compounds in broccoli sprouts significantly reduce helicobacter pylori bacteria in the stomach, thought to be an important factor in ulcers and stomach cancer. Moreover, a broccoli sprout extract was found to help skin damaged by sunburns resist and reduce tumour growth.
Florida researchers reported that garlic’s diallyl sulfide (DAS) component could ward off cancer-causing carcinogens produced by meat cooked at high temperatures. Dangerous enzymes were completely prevented from becoming carcinogenic in human breast tissue cells treated with DAS.
