The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has announced that US meat processor ConAgra Foods Poultry Group has voluntarily recalled around 36,000 pounds of fully cooked, frozen chicken products that may be contaminated with plastic.

The chicken was produced on 29 August and distributed to retail stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.

The FSIS said the recall had been announced because of the potential for injury and advised consumers to check their freezers for the product.

The recalled product is “Easy Entree Popcorn Style Chicken, Fully Cooked, Breaded Chicken Breast with Rib Meat, Made with White Meat, Oven Crisp Breading.”
