Richard H. Lenny, President and Chief Executive Officer, Hershey Foods Corporation (NYSE: HSY), yesterday announced that David J. West has been named Vice President, Business Planning and Development. In this newly created position, West will report directly to Lenny and will be responsible for corporate strategy and planning, business development, and special projects.
West joins Hershey Foods following a 14-year career with Nabisco where he served in a variety of positions in the areas of strategic planning, finance, and business development. He most recently held the position of Senior Vice President/Chief Financial Officer – Nabisco Biscuit and Snacks Group, leading the financial function of this $6 billion group encompassing Kraft’s Biscuits, Confections and Salty Snacks businesses. Prior to this, he had held the positions of Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Business Planning, and Director, Investment Analysis, among others, with Nabisco, Inc. Before joining Nabisco, West held positions in finance and accounting with Wearever Procter- Silex and Unisys.

Commenting on the announcement, James Healey, former Chief Financial Officer of Nabisco, said, “Dave West is a superb strategist and has an outstanding knowledge of the consumer products business. During his tenure at Nabisco, he took the planning function to a new, higher level that made it a significant resource for senior management in making strategic decisions.”
West, a native of the Lehigh Valley, Pa., received a Bachelor’s of science degree, cum laude, in Business Administration from Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Pa. He, his wife and daughter will relocate to Hershey, Pa.
