Green Mountain Coffee, Inc. (Nasdaq:GMCR) has announced that Don Holly has joined the Company as Corporate Quality Manager. In this new position, Mr. Holly will be responsible for bringing continuous quality improvement to the sourcing, purchasing, operations, production, service, and distribution processes of the company to ensure the quality of coffee being brought to market.
Don Holly began his coffee career working with the Diedrich family as business partner, assisting in the initial growth of Diedrich Manufacturing, now Diedrich Coffee Roasters. He was instrumental in growing the Diedrich retail and wholesale business from one store to ten with $7.5 million in sales. During his career at Diedrich Coffee he served as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Operations.
In 1995, Mr. Holly was elected to the Board of Directors of the SCAA and served as Treasurer/Secretary before accepting a full time position with the organization as Administrative Director. In this position his responsibilities included the development and implementation of training programs, and he served as liaison to the Environment, Technical Standards, and Training Committees. While at the SCAA, Don had over 50 articles published in trade publications on topics including business, coffee science and preparation, roasting, retail development, and management. He was also involved with the original charter development of the Specialty Coffee Institute (SCI) and designed and operated the SCI Laboratory.
