Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown today announced that Eric Katzman has joined the consumer research team to cover the food industry. Katzman comes to Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown from Merrill Lynch where he was a senior analyst and a member of Merrill’s top-ranked food team.

During his career, Katzman has been recognized for his research acumen in several surveys including a #1 ranking in the 1999 Wall Street Journal All-Star Analyst Survey and a #3 ranking in the 1998 and 1999 Greenwich Associates’ research poll. Also, his research team was named to the Institutional Investor All-America Research Team in both 1998 and 1999. “Eric brings over 10 years of experience researching the food and consumer products industries to our Consumer team,” said David Manlowe, Director of North American Research. “His very detailed and fundamentally-driven research is a trademark of his work and is consistent with our research strategy.”

Katzman, a Certified Financial Analyst, holds a Master of Business Administration from New York University and received his an undergraduate degree from Oberlin College. While at Merrill Lynch he covered the toys & leisure products sector before assuming coverage of the food industry and, prior to that, was an associate analyst researching cosmetics & household products. He began his career in the economic research department at Lehman Brothers.
