Some Pennsylvania shoppers will receive rebates on healthy foods and win gifts in an innovative healthy-living programme.
The Giant Food retail chain and two Pittsburgh-based insurance providers are aiming to get consumers to make healthier eating choices when shopping at 17 store locations.
Consumers purchasing selected items over a two-week period will receive rebate cheques. Insurance providers HealthAmerica and HealthAssurance – who have more than 730,000 members in Pennsylvania and Ohio – will offer draws for gifts and health-oriented prizes like fitness magazines, sporting goods and spa visits. The programme will also sponsor free blood pressure and body mass screenings at the stores.
