Californian specialty coffee roaster and marketer, Peet’s Coffee & Tea, has announced that Hilary Billings, chairman and chief marketing officer for RedEnvelope, has joined Peet’s Board of Directors.


Billings brings more than 14 years of experience in merchandising, retail and brand development to Peet’s Board. H. William Jesse, Jr, chairman of the board, commented: “We are extremely pleased that Hilary Billings has joined the Board of Directors. With her extensive brand-building experience and proven track record, Hilary will bring valuable strategic and consumer insight to the organization.”


Billings joined RedEnvelope after two years as senior VP of brand development and design for Starwood Hotels & Resorts, the largest hotel company in the world, where she spearheaded the development of the W Hotels brand.


Prior to her work at Starwood, Billings was VP of product development for Pottery Barn Catalog and Retail, one of the most successful home furnishings retailers in the US. During her seven years at Pottery Barn, she repositioned the business to create a stylish home furnishings brand and helped the Pottery Barn division of Williams-Sonoma increase sales from US$35m to US$500m.
