US grocery retailer Kroger has said its chairman, Joseph Pichler, has retired after 24 years with the company.
Pichler served as chairman of the company from 1990 to 2004 and as chief executive officer from 1990 to 2003. Prior to that, he held a variety of executive positions at Kroger and Dillon Companies, which merged with Kroger in 1983.
The board of directors has elected David Dillon, Kroger’s chief executive officer, to the additional post of chairman.
Kroger also announced that the board had elected Jon Flora as an officer of the company. Flora had been promoted to senior vice president earlier this month. As previously announced, Richard Davidson resigned from the board.
