Confectionery giant Mars has launched a new variety of its M&Ms products in a uniquely Hispanic flavour.

Mars claims to be the first major US company to produce confectionery made with dulce de leche (literally candy milk), a sweet Latin American variety of caramel. The new M&Ms will also be accompanied by a US$5m advertising campaign targeted specifically at Hispanics.

The new M&M’s are set to be launched mid-August in outlets in Los Angeles, San Diego, Miami, Puerto Rico and Texan cities San Antonio and Brownsville
