US regional grocery chain Marsh Supermarkets has posted a loss for the fourth quarter, compared to a year earlier profit.
Marsh, which operates more than 100 stores located mainly in Indiana and Ohio, posted a net loss of US$824,000 for the fourth quarter to 29 March, compared to a net income of $1.9m in the year-ago period.
The company’s total revenue was virtually flat at $373.3m, while same-store sales fell 2.2%, reported Reuters.
Marsh operates stores under the LoBill Foods, Savin*$, Village Pantry and Marsh banners.
