US meat and poultry to be exported to China, Canada, Mexico, Taiwan, Japan, Costa Rica, Jamaica and Korea must now meet new requirements in order to gain certification by the Food Safety and Inspection Service.

According to a press release, all beef exports destined for Japan must carry the statement: “The United States meets or exceeds all of the international guidelines to be considered free of BSE.”
