US dried pasta maker New World Pasta has announced that it will discontinue manufacturing operations at its Omaha, Nebraska facility on or about 4 September 2004.

The company said the facility employs 17 salaried and 79 hourly employees. Production at the Omaha facility will be provided by other New World Pasta manufacturing facilities.

Chief executive Lisa Donahue said the closure was part of the company’s strategy to focus on reducing costs, increasing efficiencies and being competitive in the marketplace. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in May this year.
