StoreAlliance.com, one of the first independent application service providers (ASPs) to offer an industry news portal on the front end of its online application software, announced today the availability of individual stock quotes for 55 companies involved in or related to the grocery retail industry as provided by CNET Investor.
The companies listed via the StoreAlliance.com portal include supermarkets, wholesalers, convenience stores, drug stores, foodservice retailers, foodservice distributors and packaged goods companies. In addition to the stock quotes, the financial information now available via the portal also includes the trading day’s top five gainers, the top five losers, and the five most active stocks in the composite index.
The new information service went live only three weeks after the launch of the StoreAlliance.com news portal. And, according to StoreAlliance.com webmaster and executive editor Bob Wieland, the StoreAlliance.com composite index tracks all 55 stocks collectively as well, reflecting the average performance of the grocery retail industry companies that are publicly traded on major exchanges including the NYSE, AMEX and NASDAQ.
“The StoreAlliance.com online news portal is unique,” he said, “because we are researching and writing original news stories focused specifically on issues and trends affecting the grocery industry. Now that we have added stock quotes to our mix of news, corporate information and research, we hope to provide even more added value for our online readers — who are looking for daily, real-time awareness as to what’s happening out there in the industry and how it could affect them.”
According to Wieland, individual quotes are updated constantly on a 15 to 20 minute delay from Wall Street.
