LOUISVILLE, Ky.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Tricon Global Restaurants, Inc. (NYSE: YUM – news) today reported estimated U.S. blended same-store sales at company restaurants increased 2% during the four-week period ended December 1, 2001 (Period 12). Tricon’s International business reported year-to-date system-sales growth of 9% prior to foreign currency conversion or +2% versus last year’s level after conversion to U.S. dollars.


For the four-week period, U.S. same-store sales increased 8% at Taco Bell and 5% at KFC, while at Pizza Hut they declined 6%.


Sales data for this latest period represents the third four-week period in Tricon’s fiscal fourth quarter, which includes four periods. Same-store sales results for Period 13 (primarily December for the U.S. businesses) will be released the week of January 7, 2002.


Next Wednesday and Thursday, December 12 and 13, Tricon will host an analyst/investor conference in New York. The conference presentations will be Web cast live on the Internet at www.triconglobal.com.
