US meat processor Tyson Foods is to lay off almost 200 people at its plant in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

The plant, which produces chicken for the fastfood and deli markets, employs 550 people in total. The layoffs will take place at the end of August and will affect management, supervisors and line workers.

The company is switching some of its poultry processing to another plant, but the number of chickens being processed will remain the same, meaning poultry farmers will be see any changes related to the move, reported the Associated Press.
