In a push to promote American agricultural products overseas, the country’s Department of Agriculture is giving US$110m to 65 American trade organisations.


One fifth of the money will go to the various regional trade associations, while the US Meat Export Federation will receive $10m and several citrus promoters will be given $6m to promote their products.


The product sectors that will see more than a million dollars each include seafood, dairy, wheat, rice, poultry & eggs, peanuts, soybeans, almonds, prunes, grapes, walnuts, potatoes, pears, raisins, apples and wine.


US food exports are expected to reach $56bn this year.
