Iowa based Wells’ Dairy has bought the FrozFruit and Chill Ice brands of frozen treat products.

Wells’ bought the brands from New York-based Fruit-Ices Corp. effective 18 August.

FrozFruit is a brand of all-natural fruit bar, while Chill Ice is a smooth creamy fruit ice.
“The acquisition of these brands provides us with an opportunity to compete in the frozen fruit bar and smooth fruit ice categories,” said Gary Wells, chief executive officer of Wells’ Dairy, the manufacturer of Blue Bunny brand ice cream products. “FrozFruit and Chill Ice are established national brands that add to the depth of our product offerings and give us access to new customers.”

Wells’ has also acquired the lease on a manufacturing facility in Clovis, N.M., from Fruit-Ices Corp., where many of the acquired products are made. About 15 full-time and 18 part-time workers will become Wells’ employees.
