Fleming (NYSE: FLM) announced today that William Merrigan has joined the company as Senior Vice President of Logistics. Merrigan will report to Steve Davis, Executive Vice President and President, Wholesale.
Merrigan served as Senior Vice President of Logistics for Nash Finch Company since 1998. Prior to this he was with Wakefern Food Corporation from 1986 to 1998 holding senior level positions including Vice President of Logistics and Transportation. Merrigan also served in senior distribution capacities at Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company and Grand Union Company.
”We are delighted to have Bill on the Fleming team with his extensive and successful background managing efficient and effective distribution operations,” said Davis. ”Bill has an unyielding focus on providing outstanding customer service while reducing the cost of operations, core to the mission of Fleming.” Merrigan has reduced substantial costs in his previous positions through distribution center consolidation; reducing fleet size while increasing utilization; implementing technology to further efficiencies; and significantly improving on time delivery.

One of our highest priorities will be to offer truly exceptional customer service.” Bill graduated from Bethany College with a BA in Economics. He and his wife, Dale, will be moving to the Dallas area in the near future.
