US food retailer Winn-Dixie Stores has announced the appointment of Paul Novak as the company’s chief development officer, effective 1 March.
Reporting directly to Winn-Dixie president and CEO Frank Lazaran, Novak will be responsible for all of Winn-Dixie’s real estate, design and construction efforts and overall asset management for the company’s 1,078 stores.
“Novak will focus on defining the company’s core markets to better target the company’s future investment and growth strategy, leading to improved market share,” Winn-Dixie said, adding that Novak will also carry out a detailed review of all non-core markets and develop strategies for exiting such markets.
Novak has previously served as executive vice president, chief development officer for Burger King’s North America division.
He replaces senior vice president of real estate Dennis Sheehan, who has resigned from the company.
