Plans to set up an Uzbek-Italian joint venture to produce baby food have been announced between Apko Lazzat of Uzbekistan and Italia food group Labella.

Some US$10m has been set aside for the venture, with 80% of this seed capital coming from the Uzbek side, reported Apko Lazzat economist Nafe Osmanov.

Daily production output is forecast to be 2.5-3 tonnes, with most of this output being exported to Italy. The Italian side will provide the entire production line and its bespoke technology, reported the Kyrgyz Press.
