The establishment of sustainable agricultural production methods in Vietnam is due to receive a boost with financial assistance from France.

The French Foreign Ministry has pledged US$871,900, nearly half of the full amount to be spent on restructuring farming techniques and developing markets over the course of a four year project plan from January 2001-4. The rest of the money is to be provided by governments in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

The project will see the construction of fishponds and studies conducted into the impact of vegetable quality on people’s health.
