The International Chamber of Commerce is gloomy about the prospects of success this year at the World Trade Organisation’s Doha Development Round agricultural talks.

It was “deeply disappointed” at progress in negotiations last month designed to deliver a first approximation of the ‘modalities’ goals of the round’s food element.
Diplomats are still waiting for a detailed report from talks chairman Tim Groser, which may be issued this week, but the ICC is not hopeful it will amount to much. Chamber general secretary Guy Sebban said: “This is obviously a missed opportunity to make much-needed progress ahead of the Hong Kong ministerial conference in December.”
