The United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) has released a series of case studies showing how it is promoting growth in food sectors within developing and emerging markets. A report notes:

A project in Morocco, where UNIDO introduced a mechanical olive oil production unit run by women, involving the supply of labels, promotional materials and packaging materials, plus the registration of trademarks;

Helping to restore the Ukraine’s once prolific food production sector, by boosting the capacity of the country’s Zakarpatsky Institute of Agro-industrial Production through staff training and upgrading laboratories. UNIDO also introduced technologies allowing companies to implement hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP) systems;

Developing commercial production of traditional Columbia achira biscuits, made from achira plant tubers. Because its price is much higher than that of maize, yucca, and other starchy crops, it has good commercial value. Achira biscuits are now sold in most Columbia supermarkets and exported to Canada, Cuba, Ecuador and the USA.
