US food manufacturer CH Guenther & Son has snapped up House-Autry Mills, a maker of branded baking mixes, seasonings and marinades.

Financial terms were not revealed.

Established in 1812, House-Autry supplies the foodservice and retail channels, along with private-label customers.

Its portfolio includes batters, hushpuppy, pancake, waffle and biscuit mixes, gravies, seasonings, and dry mix flavouring ingredients.

The products are stocked at supermarket and grocery chains including Kroger, Publix, Harris Teeter and Ingles.

The family-owned business runs manufacturing operations in North Carolina and Georgia.

CH Guenther (CHG), which has been backed by private-equity firm PPC Partners since 2018, described House-Autry’s range as “highly complementary” to its existing portfolio.

CHG said in a statement the deal will support “customer innovation, menu differentiation and long-term growth”.

Rod Hepponstall, the president and CEO of CHG, called House-Autry an “outstanding strategic fit”.

He added: “Together, we will be even better positioned to reach more customers and help them create custom products and memorable food experiences, while driving long-term financial growth.”

Derrick Marconi, the president and CFO of House-Autry, said: “This combination creates new opportunities to invest in our capabilities and expand our reach, while continuing to deliver the Southern-crafted flavour and partnership our customers have trusted for generations.”

As well as PPC, CHG is backed by its management and co-investors.

The group operates 30 manufacturing sites across the US, Canada and Western Europe.

Its brands and products include Pioneer flour, gravy and biscuit mixes, White Wings flour and tortilla mixes, alongside Sun-Bird seasonings.

The House-Autry deal builds on CHG’s April purchase of Canadian flour-tortilla producer Les Aliments Mejicano.

Last year, CHG also acquired US tortilla manufacturer Fresca Mexican Foods.

In 2022, it purchased bakery business Baldinger-Sons, a family-owned company with operations in the US Midwest and Canada.
