Orkla has made another acquisition, snapping up Danish baker TC Brød.

The Norway-headquartered group is to buy the family-owned business for an undisclosed sum.

Orkla said the deal “strengthens” its bakery business in Denmark, building upon its 2018 acquisition of Easyfood.

It pointed to “limited overlap” with Easyfood, saying TC Brød “expands the overall offering rather than duplicating existing products”.

Orkla added: “It also provides immediate access to production capacity that can support future growth and enable Orkla Foods to offer a broader and more adaptable range of bakery products to customers.”

TC Brød specialises in laminated dough and seasonal bake‑off products. The baker will work “closely” with Easyfood on development and commercial opportunities, Orkla added.

The company supplies retail and foodservice clients across Denmark, supported by a team of approximately 30 employees. The company generated revenues of DKr116m ($18m) in 2025.

The deal is expected to close in the second quarter of 2027, contingent on the approval of Danish competition authorities.

Orkla’s businesses in Denmark already include pizza restaurant chain Gorm's, Kavli's Danish operations and distributor SR Food.

Aku Vikström, the CEO of the Orkla Foods business unit, said: “This acquisition reflects our focus on developing strong local platforms in categories where we already have clear positions. Bakery in Denmark is one of those areas, and TC Brød brings complementary capabilities that expand our offering and support further growth over time.”

On Friday, Orkla secured a deal to buy a 40% stake in the Netherlands-based Asian sauces manufacturer Go-Tan from its founding family.

Last month, Orkla snapped up UK biscuits supplier Phoenix Brands.
