Netherlands-based dairy group Royal A-ware has struck a deal for Spanish cheese manufacturer Grupo TGT.

In a statement, Royal A-ware said the transaction would give the business "an even stronger position" in southern Europe.

Grupo TGT is “one of the largest” cheese producers and distributors in Spain and Portugal, the statement read.

Both companies are family-owned. Barcelona-based Grupo TGT will be “an independent organisation within Royal A-ware”, the statement added.

"By joining forces, we are creating new opportunities for growth and can serve our customers even better with a wide range of cheese and dairy products," Royal A-ware shareholder Jan Anker said.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Royal A-ware, headquartered in the Dutch town of Lopik, produces dairy products including cheese, butter and yogurt for retail, foodservice and manufacturing customers.

The company, which generated turnover of €4.4bn ($5bn) in 2025, has operations in the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and the US.

Grupo TGT sells more than 100,000 tonnes of cheese a year. The company also supplies retail, foodservice and hospitality clients. The group owns 15 production sites in Spain. Last year, the business booked turnover of €470m.

Teodoro Garcia, the shareholder of Grupo TGT, said: “For Grupo TGT, this is a logical next step in our development. Royal A-ware is a family-run business that shares our values and has a strong international position." Garcia is set to join Royal A-ware's supervisory board.

The deal follows Royal A-ware's move in February to buy Spanish distributor Global Dairy Ventures (GDV) from Abac Capital.
