Bruker

Bruker’s minispec seed analyser is a benchtop time-domain nuclear magnetic resonance (TD-NMR) system, providing a reliable and accurate method of measuring oil and moisture in seeds and residues.

The minispec seed analyser simultaneously determines oil and moisture content in all types of oilseeds, including:

  • Canola
  • Sunflower
  • Flax
  • Soya
  • Hemp
  • Corn
  • Cotton
  • Poppy
  • Mustard

The different relaxation decays of the various sample components enable moisture and oil to be detected easily and distinguished clearly, giving you reliable, accurate results. The technology has been proven by international ring tests, which are the basis for oilseed standard methods, guaranteeing the best possible performance:

  • AOCS Ak4-95
  • ISO 10565
  • ISO 10632
  • USDA GIPSA approved

The minispec product line includes solutions for bulk screening in QC/QA, as well as instruments designed for use in R&D, such as seed breeding programmes.

Benefits of TD-NMR for oil and moisture determination include:

  • Supports official international standard methods
  • Easy calibration using only three to five samples
  • Faster, more accurate and more reproducible than wet chemistry
  • No sample preparation, grinding or solvents
  • Analysis of large amounts, with averaging down of inhomogeneity to single seed analysis
  • Surface, texture and colour do not affect results
  • Analysis of the whole sample volume
  • Non-invasive and non-destructive
