Fledgling UK fruit and vegetable crisp maker Emily Crisps has appointed Roz Cuschieri, the former CEO of gluten-free business Genius Foods, as its new executive chairman.

Cuschieri, who was Genius CEO for five years until this autumn, joins a business that last month announced investment from private-equity firm Inverleith and investor club Hothouse Brands.

London-based Emily Crisps, set up in 2014, sells its snacks in the UK and in more than ten markets overseas.

Inverleith and Hothouse, headed by Scottish businessmen John Dunsmore, Ben Thomson and Paul Skipworth, bought a “significant” minority stake in Emily Crisps last month. Financial details were not disclosed. Founders Emily Wong and Alex Ascani continue to own the rest of the business.

Cuschieri’s LinkedIn page shows she still acts as an advisor to Genius. Earlier in her career, she spent 12 years at UK baker Warburtons until 2010. She joined Warburtons after five years at UK brewer Scottish Courage . Between 1989 and 1993, Cuschieri worked for United Biscuits.
