Conagra Brands, the US business behind Orville Redenbacher’s popcorn and Hunt’s ketchup, is to shut one of its domestic factories this spring.
The company will close its site in Trenton in the US state of Missouri in May.

Conagra said staff at the facility had been informed of plans to shut the plant two years ago. Production is being moved to another Conagra factory in Archbold in Ohio.
“The decision was made after careful evaluation, and allows us to operate the business more efficiently,” Conagra said.
In August, Conagra set out plans to invest again at a frozen foods plant in Russellville in Arkansas to up its capacity.
The company made three acquisitions in 2017, snapping up local peer Sandwich Bros. of Wisconsin for an undisclosed sum, buying US snacks firm Angie’s Artisan Treats – the maker of the Angie’s Boomchickapop popcorn brand – in September and striking a deal to purchase another domestic snacks business, Thanasi Foods, in March.
